Norwegian Medicals

All seafarers on board Norwegian vessels and mobile offshore units are required to provide a medical certificate to ensure that they are medically fit for service.

Australian maritime personnel and other non-EEA seafarers can obtain Norwegian medical certificates from Dr John Kenafake. These certificates are valid for 2 years, or for employees under 18 years of age, one year.

A medical certificate may be limited to a particular trade area, period of time, or service on board. All seafarers on board Norwegian vessels are required to provide a Norwegian medical certificate when signing on to ensure that the employee is medically fit for service.

Norwegian medical certificates can only be issued by an especially appointed seafarer’s doctor.

Medical practitioners with practices outside of Norway are approved as seafarer's doctors by a Norwegian foreign service mission on behalf of the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA).
